Seasonal Workshop for New Covent Garden Market

It was a real honour to be asked by Market Flowers at New Covent Garden Market, to design and create a seasonal arrangement for their IGTV in June. The brief was based on Shane Connolly’sWhat’s in season at the Flower Market’ and that week Shane chose Peonies and Herbs.

The summer had just started and it was warm, so as people are al fresco dining, enjoying garden parties, BBQs and picnics, I decided to fill a large hamper with amazing seasonal flowers. The perfect accompaniment for outdoor dining, the entrance to a marquee or for a bar display.

New Covent Garden Flower Market was in full swing when I arrived at 4.45am. I love walking round; everywhere you look are gorgeous blooms and colours. Zest had a gorgeous selection of peonies and British flowers available; I also found the British lavender, sweet peas and black stemmed cow parsley. I made purchases from Bloomfield, Dennis Edwards, Porters and Whittingtons.

The hamper is full of jars and grab vases as water vessels. The flowers included: peonies, lavender, mint, sweet peas, dark leaf cow parsley, lupins, roses, Solomon’s seal, nigella and lysimachia. The foliage: forsythia and viburnum.

The scent was fantastic. The pink peony has the most delightful fragrance, similar to a rose; the lavender, mint and sweet peas made it heavenly!

Here's the full list of flowers and foliage I used and the wonderful suppliers they came from.
